10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EVENT

10 year Anniversary Event

The Department of International Communication celebrated its 10 year Anniversary at an event held in the Atrium of the SAM Building on October 30, 2001. The Chief Guest at the event was Mr Jayantha Dhanapala, Under Secretary General for Disarmament, United Nations. The Vice Chancellor and President of Macquarie University, Emeritus Professor Di Yerbury, made the welcome speech on this occasion. Among those present were diplomats and former students. The following students and alums spoke on this occasion:

Martin Kwakwa (Ghana); Jenny Wustenburg (Germany); Kylie Hurd (Australia); Sigurd Syrdal (Norway); Bai Chuan Li (China); Stefani Mohr (USA); Chit-Apa Pingaichon (Thailand);Dr. Stephen McElhinney. Martin Kwakwa was in the very first intake (1990) and now heads the Africa desk at SBS. Dr. McElhinney commenced the MA in 1992 and joined as a Lecturer in 2001 after having completed his PhD.
