About the Logo
Students come to IC from all over the world. There are very large numbers of students from Asia and Europe. There also are students from the Americas and Africa. Staff, too, are drawn from a number of countries and ethnic backgrounds. Over the years we have had staff from Australia, Canada, China, England, Fiji, Ireland, Korea, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and USA. As the IC logo tries to capture symbolically, individuals come to the Centre from the four corners of the world. They bring precious cargo - treasure chests of culture, knowledge, experience, values and personality. They bring these from their seas of tradition, civilisational areas from across the globe. They are represented by four inward pointing arrows, (chocolate, yellow, tan and pink) that meet at the Centre (IC). From seas of tradition they across oceans of globalisation. A blue global tinge may be discerned. At IC they reveal that which is particular to their own culture, to each other, in a global setting. They exchange pieces of treasure with each other and IC staff at the Centre. On completion they carry new treasures, forged through interaction and study at IC and represented by red arrows, to the four corners of the world. IC is truly a Department of International and intercultural communication in the most practical sense.
