This website has been set up for scholars working in the area of public diplomacy and contiguous areas. It provides a transaction venue for an international research network with a view to generating research synergies. Among the goals are
- the development of joint research projects for Australian and other funding
- collaboration on such projects
- organization of sessions at international conferences and
- development of publications in the identified areas
Public Diplomacy
Public Diplomacy has become increasingly important in the 21st Century. There are a variety of fields that address public diplomacy and a variety of areas of interest within public diplomacy. Among the fields that address issues of public diplomacy are diplomatic studies, media and foreign policy, international communication, international marketing, international public relations, international relations, political communication, propaganda studies and strategic communication. Some of the issues that are discussed in relation to public diplomacy are related variously to theories of power, questions of morality, the range of public diplomacy structures, policies, actors, genres, programs and practices and to evaluation of programs effectiveness.
