Howard Gelman
BA in Journalism, New York University; MA in English Literature, New York University
Honorary Associate, Department of International Communication. howard.gelman@scmp.mq.edu.au Areas of interest: International radio and television journalism and production training, emphasizing digital production techniques; writing for publication in print media including newspapers, magazines and books; writing techniques for international business.
Brief biodata: Howard Gelman worked as a producer and general manager for 20 years with NPR in the US and the BBC, and as commissioning editor of audio arts at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. He has also worked as development and project editor with all the major publishing companies in Australia and is currently a consultant with Macquarie Bank. He conducts writing workshops at their offices in Sydney, London and New York. He has taught humanities subjects at The Cooper Union in New York and audio production at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dr Qin Guo

Brief biodata:- Dr Guo Qin is an Adjunct Professor at and former Associate Dean of School of Educational Technology, South China Normal University. She was the first to receive a PhD in International Communication at Macquarie University.
Dr.Usha Harris
BA (University of the District of Columbia), MA (Macquarie), Postgraduate Certificate (Macquarie), PhD Candidate ( Macquarie). Lecturer, Department of International Communication.
Brief bio: Usha Sundar Harris has worked as a print journalist, television researcher/producer, community media activist, and media educator. Her doctoral thesis combined action research and ethnographic methods to study the process of participatory video production and its role as a catalyst for change in post conflict Fiji.
Research interests: Participatory communication, communication for social change, methodological approaches in participatory research, community/alternative media in the South, media and communication issues in the Pacific, participatory video production.
Cavan Hogue

Brief biodata:- Cavan Hogue is a former Australian diplomat who served at ambassadorial level in Mexico, Kuala Lumpur, Moscow, Bangkok and at the United Nations in New York. He is a former Director of the National Thai Centre at the Australian National University.

Brief biodata: Sabine Krajewski has taught in departments of Modern Languages and in Communication departments in the UK, Germany, China and Australia. She has also worked as a radio broadcaster and in product development for a hair care company.
Areas of interest: Taboo research, Taboo around the Body, Media Representations around the Body, Intercultural Communication.
Helen Styles

Brief biodata:- A Barrister, Helen Styles was Manager of International Humanitarian Law at the Australian Red Cross between 1997 and 2001. She has worked DFAT in the area of public diplomacy, including in an overseas appointment in Ottawa.
